One of the first House Classics in my opinion. Mantronix just crept onto the list, as it was released in December 1989.
Written by Mantronix members Bryce Wilson and Kurtis Mantronik, alongside Johnny D. Rodriguez. Mantronik stated that “When I did ‘Got to Have Your Love’, I did it for a reason. I did it because I wanted to get a song on the radio.
The simplicity of the bass line is what makes this a great track for me, the groove that comes from the (presumably) 303 just drives it, with soulful vocals. An almost Soul II Soul vibe runs through the entire track.
Miranda Sawyer from Smash Hits called it “perfection”.
Making number 4 on the UK charts, it failed to make an impact in the band’s native America, but Europe was their spiritual home.
